Your Privacy in Plain English: DesiMacros is built to help you track your food and reach your health goals. We never sell your personal data, health statistics, or food diary entries to advertisers or data brokers.

1. Introduction

Welcome to DesiMacros ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy applies to the DesiMacros mobile application (available on iOS and Android) and our associated services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account or using DesiMacros, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to provide you with personalized macronutrient calculations and calorie tracking:

  • Account Information: When you register an account, we collect your name, email address, password (stored in salted, hashed format), and optional phone number. If you sign in using Google Sign-In, we receive your name, email address, and authentication token from Google.
  • Health & Fitness Metrics: To calculate your basal metabolic rate (BMR) and recommended daily calorie/macro targets, you provide your biological sex, age, current weight, target goal weight, height, and physical activity level.
  • Nutrition & Diary Logs: Foods you search for, barcode scans, custom meals you create, meal slot entries (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks), and daily water consumption.
  • Device & Usage Data: We may collect diagnostic data, app version, device model, operating system version, and anonymous crash logs to ensure app stability and fix technical issues.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data strictly for the following purposes:

  • To calculate and personalize your daily calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat targets based on scientific formulas (e.g., Mifflin-St Jeor).
  • To record your daily food intake and show your progress and streak consistency over time.
  • To send you transactional emails, such as password reset codes or security notices.
  • To provide local on-device reminders (meal logging, water intake, weekly weigh-in) that you voluntarily schedule.
  • To maintain, protect, and improve the DesiMacros application and debug software errors.

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal or health data. We only share limited information with trusted infrastructure providers necessary to run the Service:

  • Authentication Providers: Google Identity Services (when you sign in with Google).
  • Transactional Email Services: Resend / SendGrid (strictly used to transmit password reset codes to your verified email address).
  • Cloud & Security Hosting: Cloudflare (protects our network against security threats and hosts web resources).
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by applicable law, regulation, or court order.

5. Data Security

We employ industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures to safeguard your information:

  • All network communication between the DesiMacros mobile app and our servers is encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2 / TLS 1.3 / HTTPS).
  • User passwords are encrypted with strong cryptographic salt and hash algorithms (bcrypt) and are never stored in plain text.
  • Access to server databases is strictly restricted to authorized administrative personnel.

6. Your Rights & Account Deletion

You have full control over your personal data:

  • Edit Information: You can update your name, email, phone number, weight, or plan inputs directly in the app at any time via Settings.
  • Delete Account & Data: You have the right to permanently delete your account and all associated food, weight, and water logs. You can do this inside the app under Settings → Deactivate or delete account, or via our web request page at desimacros.app/delete-account. Upon deletion, your data is permanently removed from our active databases.

7. Children's Privacy

DesiMacros is not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@desimacros.app so we can promptly delete the account.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
